"On ACF's 6th-Month Anniversary"

Greetings Of Warm Aloha!

Today, Sunday, the 16th of August 1998, marks the 6th month that the ACADEMY CAVALIERS' FORUM (ACF) has been in continued existence in cyberspace. And before the day is over, let us all congratulate ourselves for having gone this far. This is something that we should all be proud about.

From an initial group consisting of only 18 members way back in 16 February 1998, we have grown to a brotherhood of 83 members today ... increasing at an average rate of about 11 members per month. The continued and steady growth of the ACF has turned out to be a big and an unexpected surprise for me. I never realized that such an undertaking would turn out the way it did ... and I am thankful that it was and still continues to be one.

There is no doubt that the Forum will continue to grow. Even from our early beginnings, we have been a very active and widely participated group. I guess this is because of the fact that our members consists of fine and respectable individuals who all trace their roots to the PHILIPPINE MILITARY ACADEMY ... men and women who continue to uphold the HONOR CODE and the Academy's motto of COURAGE, INTEGRITY, and LOYALTY.

We all know that the ACF started from very humble beginnings and now has attained the same high-tech level of other discussion groups in cyberspace ... and each of you made this all possible. I still remember during the first month when I would receive each morning incoming messages and then re-transmit these manually to all those in my mailing list.

Being the moderator was a difficult task since things were done quite crudely then and took a lot of my time ... but somehow it still worked. After doing some research and consultation with other list owners, the Forum finally went into full automation a month after it was created. Subscribers started to do their own postings and also receive automatically all messages sent in to the ACF. From that time on the Forum was on its own and nolonger needed a moderator. The only task left for me was to manage and maintain the list.

At this point and time, please allow me to thank all of you for trusting and believing in my plan and vision for the ACF. Without your valuable support, the Forum wouldn't have survived and progressed. I am most grateful to the members who have generously contributed for the hosting of the Forum. With the current amount that has been generated, the Forum is assured of its continued exitence for the next 4 years. Similarly, I would also like to thank all the members who have actively participated in the numerous intelligent and scholarly discussions we had for the past six months. Your genuine concern and active interaction has made the ACADEMY CAVALIERS' FORUM alive and well.

It is my hope that in due time, our many other Cavaliers who have not as yet heard of the ACF will be joining us soon. Mabuhay ang ACF at mabuhay din ang mga kasama at kapatid natin sa ACF.
